Nutrition Research Made Simple
Welcome to Taذغiya
Pronounced: Tag-thi-ya
“تغذية” is Arabic for Nutrition.
Why Tagthiya Exists
Nutrition and Public health research are everywhere, in reports, campaigns, policies, etc. But it rarely feels like it’s for the people it affects most. It’s stuck in PDFs, full of passive voice.
Meanwhile, the everyday food environment keeps shifting:
Big Food companies fund research, with conditions attached
Cartoon mascots teach kids what breakfast should look like, not parents
Junk food ads target children more aggressively than ever
And in places meant to support health (schools, hospitals, grocery stores), we rarely stop to ask, “Why is this here?
Tagthiya was born out of that frustration. It exists to help people notice.
Tagthiya isn’t about tips, trends, or telling you what to eat. It’s about helping you see why things are the way they are, and who benefits when they stay that way.
Because once you see how the food environment is designed,
you can’t unsee it.
What You’ll Find
-
Ever thought what Little Red Riding Hood might say about processed food? Tagthiya rewrites classic tales or popular myths to shed light on nutrition topics. Storytelling is powerful; research shows people connect with messages told as relatable stories. Each post carries a lesson from the food world, making hard ideas easy to remember.

A tiny stick figure often pops up at the margins of the posts. I use stick figures to say what a lot of us are thinking: “Wait... why is this normal?”
They’re sarcastic. They’re curious. They’re you.
They turn data into dialogue without being overwhelming. -
In this series, I step outside and snap photos of everyday food scenes. Sometimes the most telling stories are the ones we walk past.
The “I See” section captures these everyday scenes with a photo, a thought, and a reminder that our food environment is never neutral.

Whether it’s a misleading food label, a health policy with strings attached, or an ad campaign that targets children, Tagthiya turns that moment into a story, something you’ll understand, and/or maybe laugh at.
